It is possible to consult descriptions of the entire archival heritage of the National Intitute and of the Institutes of Alessandria, Asti, Bologna, Cuneo, Genoa, Imola, Florence, Naples, Novara, Sesto San Giovanni, Turin, Varallo, as well as of the principal holdings of other associated Institutes and of institutions outside the network that participate in the program of archival modernization. For most of the holdings, descriptions are at the file level; in some cases they only reach an overall "holding" level. It is also possible to consult, in print form, the Guide to the Archives of the Resistance, edited by the Archives-Library Commission of INSMLI, Rome, Ministry for Cultural and Environmental Assets, but only updated to 1983.
It is possible to consult descriptions of the photographic archives of the National Institute and of the Institutes of Novara, Pavia, Sesto San Giovanni, Turin, and Udine, of the Albe and Lica Steiner Archive (Politecnico di Milano), of the Centro Studi e ricerca Silvio Trentin di Jesolo, and of the City of Corbetta. The descriptions of the holdings are at the series level, except for the Institute of Turin where single documents are described with reproductions of the images.
This archive makes possible complete and integrated research on the paper and photographic archives of all the holdings described by the National Institute and by the associated and connected Institutes.
